Digital Camera Adapter

A digital camera adapter is an optical accessory that connects a digital camera to a microscope, telescope, or other imaging system, allowing visual information to be recorded and analyzed electronically. The adapter positions the camera sensor within the instrument’s optical path, where lenses or a tube-mount interface transfer and focus the image while maintaining alignment and suitable magnification. In behavior research, this setup supports video documentation of movement, interactions, posture, and responses under controlled or natural conditions. Digital recording enables frame-by-frame analysis, quantitative tracking, efficient data storage, and reproducible comparisons across subjects, making observations easier to share and evaluate.

2019

We successfully converted the standard telomere repeat amplification protocol (TRAP) assay to be employed in droplet digital polymerase chain reactions. This new assay, called ddTRAP, is more sensitive and quantitative, allowing for better detection and statistical analysis of telomerase activity within various human cells.

We describe a method to record motor activity, timed to the electrically recorded tarsal contact signal in a tethered insect, walking on a slippery surface. This is used to study the neural basis of adaptive behavior under reduced influence of mechanical interaction between legs through the substrate.

Measuring Engagement of Spectators of Social Digital Games

2021

We propose a methodology that enables measuring engagement of spectators in a social digital game combining physiological and self-reported data. As this digital game involves a group of freely moving people, the experience is filmed using a synchronizing technique that links physiological data with events in the game.

2011

We are developing a dynamic adaptive exposure technique using our scanning beam digital X-ray system. Rather than exposing an object uniformly, the exposure is adapted depending on the opacity of the object. Here we show an experiment on an anthropomorphic phantom that resulted in a dose saving of 30%.
