Postoperative Follow-up

Postoperative follow-up is the structured clinical monitoring that occurs after surgery to assess recovery, identify complications, and support a return to daily function. During follow-up visits, clinicians evaluate wound healing, pain, mobility, medication adherence, and changes in behavior or mood, while comparing progress with expected recovery milestones. This process allows timely adjustment of treatment, reinforces self-care and rehabilitation, and identifies behavioral factors that may affect outcomes, such as reduced activity, anxiety, confusion, or difficulty following instructions. In surgical and behavioral research, postoperative follow-up provides essential evidence about recovery quality, patient safety, and long-term functional outcomes.

We describe a method for the detection of tumor nodule development in the lungs of an adenocarcinoma mouse model using micro-computed tomography and its use for monitoring changes in nodule size over time and in response to treatment. The accuracy of the assessment was confirmed with end-point histological quantification.
