Microplate Assistive Pipetting Light Emitter

A Microplate Assistive Pipetting Light Emitter is a bioengineering device that uses directed light to support accurate liquid handling in multiwell plates, where well position and pipetting consistency are critical. The system illuminates selected wells or pipetting locations, providing a visual cue that helps users align the pipette with the intended destination and follow plate-based workflows. By reducing targeting errors and improving procedural consistency, this assistive technology can support sample preparation, reagent dispensing, cell-based assays, and other laboratory protocols that use microplates. Its design also illustrates how human-centered engineering can improve reliability and usability in research automation.

Introduction to the Microplate Reader

2023

The microplate reader is a multimodal instrument that allows for a variety of experiments to be performed and measured simultaneously. Microplate readers can make absorbance, fluorescence and luminescence measurements. Multiwell plates are integral to the microplate reader and allow for many experiments to be performed at once. Regardless of the assay type, experiments on the plate reader utilize a standard curve to determine the experimental values. This curve uses samples of known...
