Plant Expression Vector

A plant expression vector is a designed DNA molecule that delivers and controls the production of a target gene in plant cells, making it a central tool in plant bioengineering. It typically combines a plant-active promoter, coding sequence, terminator, and selectable marker; after introduction into cells through methods such as Agrobacterium-mediated transformation, the promoter drives transcription and the construct can be integrated or maintained for expression. Researchers use plant expression vectors to produce recombinant proteins, investigate gene function, engineer metabolic pathways, and develop crops with improved traits. Their modular design supports controlled, tissue-specific, or inducible gene expression across diverse plant systems.
