Avian Mammalian Development

Avian mammalian development is the study of how bird and mammal embryos form, grow, and organize into functional organisms, revealing both shared biological principles and lineage-specific adaptations. Development begins with fertilization and proceeds through cleavage, gastrulation, germ-layer formation, and organogenesis, while avian embryos develop within a yolk-supported egg and mammalian embryos typically implant in the uterus and receive support through the placenta. Comparing these processes helps researchers connect embryonic structure and gene regulation with evolutionary change. Avian and mammalian embryos also serve as important models for investigating cell differentiation, tissue formation, congenital disorders, and the mechanisms that guide vertebrate development.

Begin with a suspension of avian pathogenic E. coli or APEC in growth media.APEC is a Gram-negative bacterium that infects poultry by entering through the respiratory tract. After breaching the mucosal layer, APEC adhere to epithelial cells, multiply locally, and disrupt the epithelial barrier to enter the bloodstream. The bacteria then spread to multiple organs, causing systemic infection.Add an equal volume of the bacterial suspension to each well of a multi-well plate containing increasing...
