Caudal Peduncle Vein

The caudal peduncle vein is a blood vessel in the caudal peduncle, the narrow region connecting a fish’s body with its tail, and it helps return blood from posterior tissues to the central circulation. Venous blood travels through this vessel from the tail toward the trunk, where it may pass through the fish’s renal portal system before reaching the heart. Understanding its location and connections supports the study of fish anatomy, circulation, and physiological adaptation. The vein is also relevant to veterinary examination, aquaculture health assessment, and blood collection procedures when researchers evaluate disease, stress, or systemic condition.

Here we describe a new method of detecting successful establishment of shared blood circulation of two parabionts through a caudal vein injection of glucose, which causes minimal damage and is not fatal to the parabionts.

Caudal-to-cranial Approach in Laparoscopic Right Hemicolectomy with Complete Mesocolon Excision and D3 Lymph Node Dissection

2026

Laparoscopic surgery is widely used in the treatment of right-sided colon cancer and offers numerous advantages. This paper describes the caudal-to-cranial surgical approach combined with complete mesocolic excision (CME) and D3 lymph node dissection, which may potentially reduce the technical difficulty and appear to be a safe approach.

Development of a Rat Caudal Interbody Fusion Model: A Pilot Feasibility Study

2026

This study demonstrated the technical feasibility of a pilot rat caudal interbody fusion model using posterior cage and plate fixation. Histomorphometric analysis at 12 weeks confirmed continuous bone bridging and distinct intra-cage bone maturation patterns. This technical model serves as a preliminary foundation for future large-scale studies.
