Cryobox Retrieval Technique

Cryobox Retrieval Technique is a laboratory method for locating and removing labeled biological samples from organized cryogenic storage while preserving sample identity and temperature. It relies on a mapped cryobox layout, accurate inventory records, and controlled handling that limits exposure to ambient conditions during retrieval, inspection, and transfer. In biology, this technique supports reliable access to frozen cells, tissues, nucleic acids, and other specimens used in research and biobanking. Consistent retrieval practices reduce identification errors, unnecessary warming, and repeated disturbance of stored materials, helping maintain sample quality and improve the reproducibility of downstream experiments.

Retrieval

Retrieval is the process of getting information out of memory storage and back into conscious awareness. This ability is essential for daily tasks like brushing hair and teeth, driving to work, and performing job duties. Retrieval occurs in three ways: recall, recognition, and relearning. Recall involves accessing information without cues, such as during an essay test, where individuals must retrieve facts and concepts from memory unaided. Another example is remembering the name of a colleague...

Endovascular Treatment of Acute Ischemic Stroke Using the Stent Retriever-Assisted Vacuum-Locked Extraction Technique

Source: Schregel, K., et al. Optimized Management of Endovascular Treatment for Acute Ischemic Stroke. J. Vis. Exp. (2018).This video demonstrates the endovascular treatment of acute ischemic stroke using the stent retriever-assisted vacuum-locked extraction technique. A guiding sheath is introduced through the femoral artery to reach the clot. A catheter with a stent retriever secures and extracts the clot. Vascular imaging is done to confirm successful reperfusion.

2026

Many important reactive minerals are formed during in situ groundwater remediation; however, conventional drill core-based methods often present challenges in collecting these minerals. This article offers techniques for utilizing the Min-Trap, an innovative passive sampling device, to effectively collect and measure reactive minerals from conventional monitoring wells.

ER Retrieval Pathway

2023

In the secretory pathway, vesicles transport proteins from one cellular compartment to another in forward transport to deliver the protein to its correct location. Occasionally, misfolded proteins and incorrect proteins escape their original compartments, and a retrieval pathway is used to return the escaped proteins to their original compartment. The ER uses many checkpoints to prevent the entry of incorrectly folded or a resident protein as cargo onto a transport vesicle. These mechanisms...
