Cytokeratin 7 Staining

Cytokeratin 7 staining is an immunohistochemical method that detects cytokeratin 7, an intermediate filament protein expressed in many epithelial cells, to characterize tissue and tumor phenotypes. In this technique, tissue sections are treated with antibodies specific to cytokeratin 7; antibody binding is visualized through a chromogenic or fluorescent signal, revealing the distribution and intensity of expression. Pathologists use CK7 staining alongside other markers and morphological findings to help distinguish epithelial neoplasms and assess their likely tissue of origin. The method supports diagnostic pathology, tumor classification, and research into epithelial differentiation and disease biology.

The sensitivity gain inherent to ultrahigh field magnetic resonance holds promise for high spatial resolution imaging of the heart. Here, we describe a protocol customized for functional cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) at 7 Tesla using an advanced multi-channel radio-frequency coil, magnetic field shimming and a triggering concept.

Here, we present a protocol to detect total cellular reactive oxygen species (ROS) using 2',7'-dichlorodihydrofluorescein diacetate (DCFH-DA). This method can visualize cellular ROS localization in adherent cells with a fluorescence microscope and quantify ROS intensity with a fluorescence plate reader. This protocol is simple, efficient and cost-effective.

DiRita1 1 Department of Microbiology and Molecular Genetics, Michigan State University, East Lansing, Michigan, United States of America Bacteria are diverse microorganisms found nearly everywhere on Earth. Many properties help distinguish them from each other, including but not limited to Gram-staining type, shape and arrangement, production of capsule, and formation of spores. To observe these properties, one...

Caspase-3/7 Assay: A Luminescence-Based Assay to Quantify Apoptosis by Measuring Caspase-3/7 Activities in Frog Skin Explants

2025

This video describes an in vitro Caspase-3/7 luminescent assay to quantify cell death or apoptosis. The assay measures luminescence produced following caspase-3/7 cleavage of a pro-luminescent DEVD substrate. The luminescence generated is proportional to caspase-3/7 activity.
