Gastric Ganglion Isolation

Gastric ganglion isolation is a dissection technique used to separate the neural ganglion associated with the stomach from surrounding tissues for controlled biological study. The procedure typically involves exposing the stomach, carefully removing connective and muscular tissue, and transferring the ganglion into physiological saline while preserving its neuronal structure and activity. Isolated ganglia provide an accessible preparation for examining neuron morphology, synaptic communication, electrophysiological responses, and neural regulation of gastrointestinal function. In biology research, this approach supports studies of gut–neural interactions, circuit organization, and cellular mechanisms that are difficult to resolve within an intact organism.

Isolating Vestibular Ganglion Neurons From a Mouse Inner Ear

2025

This video showcases a method for isolating vestibular neurons from a mouse pup's inner ear. It meticulously outlines the steps involved in dissecting the inner ear, harvesting the vestibular ganglion, and subsequently dissociating the ganglion into single cells. These cells are then cultured on glass-bottom dishes to establish a vestibular neuron culture.

Millions of people suffer from retinal degenerative diseases that result in irreversible blindness. A common element of many of these diseases is the loss of retinal ganglion cells (RGCs). This detailed protocol describes the isolation of primary murine RGCs by positive and negative selection with flow cytometry.
