Power Cord Inspection

Power cord inspection is a systematic safety practice for identifying damage or wear in the cables and plugs that supply electrical equipment, helping prevent shocks, fires, and equipment failure. It typically involves disconnecting equipment from power, examining insulation, connectors, and strain-relief points for cuts, fraying, exposed conductors, deformation, or contamination, then removing defective cords from service rather than using them. In biology laboratories, routine inspection supports the safe operation of incubators, microscopes, centrifuges, freezers, and other instruments used for cell culture and sample analysis. Consistent checks reduce avoidable hazards, protect experiments from interruption, and reinforce reliable laboratory practice.
