Rheology Analysis

Rheology analysis is the study of how materials deform and flow when forces are applied, providing a quantitative view of properties such as viscosity, elasticity, and viscoelasticity. In biological research, instruments apply controlled stress or strain, often across different shear rates or during oscillatory tests, while measuring the resulting deformation and flow response. These measurements characterize biofluids, cells, tissues, extracellular matrices, and biomaterials, whose behavior can change with composition, concentration, or structural organization. Rheology analysis supports studies of cell mechanics, disease-related changes, drug delivery systems, tissue engineering, and the design of hydrogels and other materials that mimic biological environments.
