Personalized Cancer Treatment

Personalized cancer treatment is an approach that uses a patient’s tumor characteristics and individual health information to guide cancer prevention, diagnosis, and therapy selection. Clinicians analyze tumor samples for molecular changes, biomarkers, and genomic alterations, then match these findings with targeted drugs, immunotherapies, chemotherapy, or other treatments likely to benefit that patient. This strategy can help identify effective options, avoid therapies unlikely to work, and support treatment decisions as tumors evolve or develop resistance. In cancer research, personalized treatment also advances biomarker discovery, clinical trial design, and precision oncology by linking biological differences among tumors to measurable treatment outcomes.

Pancreatic cancer stem cells (CSCs) can be expanded in vitro using the anchorage-independent sphere culture technique, which represents a powerful tool to study CSC biology and can serve as the first step to develop novel CSC-targeting therapies. Here the methodology for expanding, analyzing and targeting of pancreatic CSCs is provided.

Treatment Resistent Cancers

2023

Cancer is the second leading cause of death in the United States. A cancer cell is genetically unstable and hence can mutate faster. They can also modify their microenvironment and escape immune surveillance. The difficulties in treating cancer are further compounded by the emergence of rapid resistance to anticancer drugs. The most common ways to attain resistance in cancer cells include alteration in drug transport and metabolism, modification of drug target, elevated DNA damage response, or...
