Endoscopic Stent Placement

Endoscopic stent placement is a minimally invasive clinical procedure that uses an endoscope to position a small tube within a narrowed or obstructed passage, helping restore the movement of fluids or other contents. During the procedure, clinicians guide the stent through the endoscope and deploy it across the affected area, where its structure maintains an open channel and supports drainage or passage. This approach is used in the gastrointestinal, biliary, pancreatic, and airway systems to relieve obstruction, manage strictures, and support healing after injury or intervention. Its precise placement can improve symptoms while reducing the need for open surgery.

Here, we present the stent-bridging pancreaticogastrostomy (PG) technique, which uses a stent to bridge the remnant pancreas to the stomach during open pancreaticoduodenectomy. The stent-bridging PG aims to simplify the anastomosis, achieve complete diversion of pancreatic juice, and minimize manipulation of the pancreatic remnant.

Source: Sharon Bord, MD, Department of Emergency Medicine, The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, Maryland, USA When monitoring patients, it is important to obtain values that are accurate and reliable. Blood pressure monitoring is one of the essential vital signs, and for a majority of patients, measuring it utilizing non-invasive techniques provides accurate values. However, there are situations in which the blood pressure requires more exact, specific, and reliable measurements.
