Tissue Destruction

Tissue destruction is the loss or breakdown of cells and extracellular structures within an organ or body region, often causing impaired function and requiring clinical assessment. It can result from trauma, ischemia, infection, immune reactions, or chemical and thermal injury; these insults disrupt cell membranes and metabolism, leading to necrosis, inflammation, and removal of damaged material. Clinicians evaluate the extent and cause through examination, imaging, and laboratory findings, then guide interventions such as wound care, debridement, infection control, or targeted tissue ablation.

Non-destructive Tests for Concrete Strength

2024

The rebound hammer test, also known as the Schmidt hammer test, is a non-destructive technique for evaluating the hardness of concrete and, indirectly, the strength of concrete. It operates on the principle that the rebound of a spring-driven mass from a concrete surface correlates to the surface's hardness. The device comprises a mass within a tubular housing, a spring mechanism, and a plunger that strikes the concrete. Upon release, the energy imparted to the mass by the spring causes it to...

Application and Methodology of the Non-destructive 19F Time-domain NMR Technique to Measure the Content in Fluorine-containing Drug Products

A simple and non-destructive technique that measures the average content of drug substances in formulated drug products containing fluorine using low-field fluorine-19 (19F) time-domain (TD) nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) is presented here. The technique can be applied to the development and manufacturing of drugs in the pharmaceutical industry.

Non-Destructive Evaluation of Regional Cell Density Within Tumor Aggregates Following Drug Treatment

The present protocol develops an image-based technique for rapid, non-destructive, and label-free regional cell density and viability measurement within 3D tumor aggregates. Findings revealed a cell-density gradient, with higher cell densities in core regions than outer layers in developing aggregates and predominantly peripheral cell death in HER2+ aggregates treated with Trastuzumab.
