Ball Holder

A ball holder is a mechanical fixture that supports, positions, or constrains a spherical object during handling, measurement, assembly, or testing. It works by using a cradle, socket, clamp, or compliant contact surface to distribute load and limit unwanted translation, while its geometry and friction can permit controlled rotation or release. In engineering, ball holders help maintain repeatable alignment and stable boundary conditions in experimental apparatuses, manufacturing systems, and mechanical demonstrations. Their design requires consideration of ball diameter, material compatibility, contact pressure, stability, and accessibility, making them useful for improving measurement consistency, reducing motion-related error, and protecting delicate components.

Presynapse formation is a dynamic process including accumulation of synaptic proteins in proper order. In this method, presynapse formation is triggered by beads conjugated with a presynapse organizer protein on axonal sheets of “neuron ball” culture, so that accumulation of synaptic proteins is easy to be analyzed during presynapse formation.
