Double Wall Cup

A double wall cup is a drinking vessel constructed with two separate walls, designed to reduce heat transfer between its contents and the surrounding environment. The space between the walls acts as an insulating layer, limiting conduction and convection, while the surfaces may also reduce radiant heat exchange; depending on the design, the gap can contain air or another insulating condition. In engineering, double wall cups help maintain beverage temperature, improve handling comfort by reducing exterior heating or cooling, and demonstrate how geometry, materials, and insulation influence thermal performance.

A technique called Comprehensive Microarray Polymer Profiling (CoMPP) for the characterisation of plant cell wall glycans is described. This method combines the specificity of monoclonal antibodies directed to defined glycan-epitopes with a miniature microarray analytical platform allowing screening of glycan occurrence in a broad range of biological contexts.

We discussed the synthesis of individual graphitic nanocups using a series of techniques including chemical vapor deposition, acid oxidation and probe-tip sonication. By citrate reduction of HAuCl4, the graphitic nanocups were effectively corked with gold nanoparticles due to the chemically reactive edges of the cups.
