Hopper System

A hopper system is an engineered arrangement for storing, containing, and controlledly discharging bulk materials such as powders, granules, and aggregates. Its sloped walls use gravity to direct material toward an outlet, while gates, valves, screws, or vibratory feeders regulate flow and help manage conditions such as bridging, segregation, and inconsistent discharge. Engineers design hopper geometry, outlet dimensions, and flow-control components according to material properties, including particle size, moisture, cohesion, and angle of repose. Hopper systems support reliable feeding, batching, blending, and transfer in industries such as manufacturing, agriculture, construction, food processing, and chemical production.

Here, we describe how to identify the stage of the murine reproductive (proestrus, estrus, metestrus, or diestrus) by simple, non-invasive collection and cytological assessment of vaginal smear samples. We further describe how vaginal cytology reflects circulating hormonal levels underlying transition through the murine reproductive cycle.

Demonstration of the Power Law Model Through Extrusion

Source: Kerry M. Dooley and Michael G. Benton, Department of Chemical Engineering, Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge, LA Polymer melts are often formed into simple shapes or "extrudates", such as cylindrical pellets, flat sheets, or pipe, using an extruder.1 Polyolefins are among the most common extrudable polymers. Extrusion involves transporting and melting solid feed, which is sometimes mixed with non-polymeric materials, and the pressure build-up and transport of the melt or mixture.
