Tilting Drum Mixers

Tilting drum mixers are batch-processing machines that blend materials inside a rotating drum and use drum inclination to charge, mix, and discharge the load, making them important in construction and industrial material handling. During operation, the drum rotates around an inclined axis, causing gravity-driven tumbling that repeatedly lifts and cascades cement, aggregates, water, or other components until the mixture becomes uniform; changing the drum angle supports loading and controlled discharge. These mixers are widely used for producing concrete and mortar on construction sites, where they provide flexible batch sizes and practical material handling. Their performance depends on drum speed, tilt angle, mixing time, and material proportions.

Generation of Tilted Amygdala Slices from a Mouse Brain

2025

The video demonstrates the generation of tilted amygdala slices from a mouse brain. The brain is positioned at an angle on the vibratome specimen stage to obtain slices containing the amygdala and axons from the medial prefrontal cortex that form synaptic connections with the amygdala. The brain slices are maintained at the physiological temperature to preserve the tissue for further experiments.

We describe a "gold standard" for evaluating orthostatic tolerance (OT) using tilt testing with combined lower body negative pressure (LBNP). This can be combined with non-invasive evaluations of cardiovascular reflex control. Normal and abnormal responses are defined.

This article describes a standard method to get a three-dimensional (3D) reconstruction of biological macromolecules using negative staining electron microscopy (EM). In this protocol, we explain how to get the 3D structure of the Saccharomyces cerevisiae exosome complex at medium resolution using the random conical tilt reconstruction method (RCT).

A detailed protocol for synthesizing lipid nanoparticles (LNPs) using confined impinging jet (CIJ) mixer technologies, including a two-jet CIJ and a four-jet multi-inlet vortex mixer (µMIVM), is demonstrated. The CIJ mixers generate reproducible, turbulent micro-mixing environments, resulting in the production of monodisperse LNPs.
