Male Fertility Assessment

Male fertility assessment is the clinical evaluation of a man's reproductive potential and the factors that may contribute to difficulty conceiving. It typically begins with medical and reproductive history, physical examination, and semen analysis, which measures ejaculate volume and sperm concentration, motility, and morphology to identify abnormalities in sperm production or transport. When results or clinical findings warrant further investigation, clinicians may assess reproductive hormones, testicular function, infections, or genetic factors using targeted laboratory and imaging tests. The findings help distinguish potentially reversible conditions from persistent impairment, guide treatment or assisted reproductive decisions, and support evaluation of both partners in infertility care.
