Vertical Mouse Suspension

Vertical mouse suspension is a behavioral assessment in which a mouse is placed in a standardized vertical suspension setup to evaluate motor function, coordination, and neuromuscular performance. The test challenges the animal’s ability to maintain posture and use limb strength against gravity, while researchers record observable responses such as stability, movement, or the time required to lose position. In medicine and biomedical research, these measurements can help characterize neurological impairment, muscle weakness, disease progression, or responses to experimental treatments. When combined with complementary behavioral and physiological assays, vertical suspension provides a practical outcome measure for studying motor dysfunction in preclinical models.

Dissociating cells from specific tissue types requires specific parameters for tissue aggitation to obtain a high volume of viable, culturable cells. The Miltenyi gentleMACS Dissociator optimizes this task with a simple, practical protocol. In this publication the use of this apparatus on nerual tissue is explained.
