Tpa Sensitive Model

A tPA-sensitive model is an experimental system whose measurable response changes when exposed to tissue plasminogen activator (tPA), an enzyme involved in fibrinolysis and brain physiology. In these models, tPA converts plasminogen to plasmin, promoting fibrin breakdown, while experimental readouts can capture effects on neurovascular interactions, extracellular-matrix signaling, or blood-brain barrier function. Neuroscience researchers use tPA-sensitive models to examine how thrombolytic activity influences ischemic brain injury, vascular permeability, and recovery. These systems help clarify the benefits and risks of tPA-based interventions and support the development of improved approaches to stroke research.

A Fibrin-Enriched and tPA-Sensitive Photothrombotic Stroke Model

2021

Traditional photothrombotic stroke (PTS) models mainly induce dense platelet aggregates of a high resistance to tissue plasminogen activator (tPA)-lytic treatment. Here a modified murine PTS model is introduced by co-injecting thrombin and photosensitive dye for photoactivation. The thrombin-enhanced PTS model produces mixed platelet:fibrin clots and is highly sensitive to tPA-thrombolysis.

Minimum Erythematous Dose Assay: A Method for Measuring UV Sensitivity in Mouse Models

2023

This video describes a method to measure UV sensitivity in a humanized mouse model—a mouse model that mimics human skin. We determine the minimal erythematous dose (MED) of UV radiation that can cause erythema or edema on the skin. The method can help to find out the efficacy of drugs used to reduce UV sensitivity.

Two-stage skin carcinogenesis is induced by two topically applied chemicals. A mutagen 7,12-dimethylbenz[a]anthracene) causes mutations in the epidermal cells and a continuous application of general growth stimulator 12-O-tetradecanoyl phorbol-13-acetate accelerates skin papilloma formation.

Reliable Creation of a Murine Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Model Using Elastin Sensitization and Perivascular Elastase
