Camila Carlos-Shanley, Ph.D., is a microbial ecologist specializing in microbial genomics and metagenomics. She earned her Ph.D. in Genetics and Molecular Biology from the University of Campinas, Brazil. She completed postdoctoral research at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and the University of Wisconsin–Madison. Camila also served as an Assistant Professor at Texas State University, where she taught Genomics and Bacterial Genomics to both undergraduate and graduate students. Her research focused on understanding the functions of animal-associated microbiomes. Seeking new challenges, she transitioned into a new career path. As a Science Editor at JoVE, she aims to contribute to scientific reproducibility and engage with researchers across various disciplines.
