“Dr. Guilherme Costa holds a PhD from the University of São Paulo (USP) and has international research experience at KU Leuven in Belgium. His scientific work has focused on the enzyme-mediated functionalization of cellulose nanofibrils, with particular emphasis on process optimization, enzyme kinetics, and applications in mildly hydrophobic nanomaterial systems, including Pickering emulsions and thin films. He also has expertise in the development, optimization, and scale-up of fermentative processes to produce metabolites and recombinant proteins. His experience spans bench-scale research, industrial feasibility assessments, and techno-economic analyses, supported by mathematical modeling and advanced statistical design. Throughout his career, Dr. Costa has led multidisciplinary projects and international collaborations at the intersection of research, innovation, and the market. He is especially interested in work that enables sustainable, scalable solutions and contributes to the transition toward a more innovative and resilient bioeconomy. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his family and dogs, playing video games, watching television series, cooking, and working out. guilherme.costa@jove.com “
