“Dr. Vishal K. Chavda is an internationally recognized clinical neuroscientist, translational researcher, and academic editor with expertise spanning stroke, neurovascular disorders, neuropharmacology, traumatic brain injury, neuro-oncology, and neurodegenerative disorders. He currently serves as Associate Professor of Neuroscience & Neurosurgical Surgery at the Neurotraumatology Clinic, New Mexico, Mexico, and Honorary Research Professor in Neurology, Neurosurgery, Neurogenetics, and Clinical & Translational Research at the ChromoMed Institute, Dominican Republic. He is also affiliated with the UNESCO Chair of Digital Anatomy at the University of Paris. Dr. Chavda completed his doctoral and postgraduate training in Neuropharmacology, with additional clinical experience in anesthesiology and critical care. His advanced postdoctoral training at Stanford University School of Medicine and the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine focused on ischemic stroke, mitochondrial dysfunction, stem cell therapeutics, and neurodegeneration. He has also undertaken specialized fellowships in neurosurgery, Gamma Knife radiosurgery, cerebrovascular research, and spine research. His multidisciplinary research integrates molecular biology, in vivo experimental models, computational approaches, and clinical data analysis to investigate disease mechanisms and develop innovative therapeutic strategies. His major research interests include traumatic brain injury and stroke, recurrent stroke, brain cancers, neuroinflammation, mitochondrial dysfunction, endovascular stem-cell therapy, and gene-based therapeutics. Dr. Chavda has authored 130+ peer-reviewed publications, including original research articles, systematic reviews, and book chapters, with 1,700+ citations and an h-index of 21. He serves on the editorial boards of several international journals and has led multiple special issues addressing stroke, neurocritical care, aneurysms, traumatic brain injury, and emerging neurosurgical technologies. He has received several international honors, including the Neuroscience Future Leader Award (2026) and Asia’s Iconic Scientist Award, and is a member/fellow of multiple international scientific and neurological societies. His work emphasizes rigorous, translational, and clinically relevant neuroscience research bridging laboratory discoveries with patient-centered applications.”
