Anti-fade Preservative

An anti-fade preservative is a chemical reagent used to slow the loss of fluorescence in biological samples during microscopy, helping preserve signal intensity and image quality. It works by reducing photobleaching, a light-driven process in which excited fluorophores react with oxygen and other molecules to form damaging reactive species; anti-fade formulations can limit these reactions and stabilize fluorescent labels. In biology, these reagents are applied to stained cells, tissues, and other specimens for fluorescence and confocal imaging, enabling more reliable visualization of cellular structures, protein localization, and molecular interactions during image acquisition.

Innovative Strategies for Organ Preservation in Heart Transplantation: Uniform Cooling Preservation and Ex-situ Normothermic Perfusion

2025

Donor heart preservation is a major determinant of success in heart transplantation. Technological advances have led to optimizing the conditions of preservation, along with a more accurate assessment of the donor heart before transplantation. We herein describe two innovative technologies currently applied for cardiac preservation: uniform cooling preservation and normothermic ex-situ heart perfusion.

Overview Antibodies, also known as immunoglobulins (Ig), are essential players of the adaptive immune system. These antigen-binding proteins are produced by B cells and make up 20 percent of the total blood plasma by weight. In mammals, antibodies fall into five different classes, which each elicits a different biological response upon antigen binding. The Y-Shaped Structure of Antibodies Consists of Four Polypeptide Chains Antibodies consist of four polypeptide chains: two identical heavy...

A method is described with visual accompaniment for conducting scalable, high throughput selections from phage-displayed combinatorial synthetic antibody libraries against hundreds of antigens simultaneously. Using this parallel approach, we have isolated antibody fragments that exhibit high affinity and specificity for diverse antigens that are functional in standard immunoassays.
