Imaging Chamber

An imaging chamber is a specialized device that holds biological specimens in a stable, optically accessible environment during microscopy, helping researchers observe living systems without removing them from experimental conditions. It typically combines a transparent imaging surface with controlled fluid exchange, temperature, gas, or humidity conditions to maintain cell viability and reduce movement or environmental disturbance. In biology, imaging chambers support time-lapse microscopy, live-cell imaging, and studies of cellular behavior, development, and tissue dynamics. By enabling repeated observation under defined conditions, they improve measurement of processes such as cell migration, division, signaling, and responses to experimental treatments.

2012

The Drosophila egg chamber is an excellent model for studying the mechanisms of mRNA localization. In order to capture the dynamic events that underpin the processes of localization, rapid high resolution imaging of live tissue is required. Here, we present a protocol for dissection and imaging of live samples with minimal disruption.

In Vivo Imaging of Liver Spheroids Engrafted in the Anterior Chamber of the Mouse Eye

2024

Here, we describe a platform that allows noninvasive in vivo imaging of liver spheroids engrafted in the anterior chamber of the mouse eye. The workflow spans from generating spheroids from primary liver cells to transplantation into the mouse eye and in vivo imaging at cellular resolution by confocal microscopy.
