Vascular Injury Prevention

Vascular injury prevention is the study and application of measures that protect blood vessels from structural damage and the harmful biological responses that follow, making it important for maintaining circulation and tissue function. It works by preserving endothelial integrity, limiting excessive mechanical stress and inflammation, and supporting balanced hemostasis so that clot formation seals damage without obstructing blood flow. In biology and medicine, these principles guide the prevention of thrombosis, hemorrhage, and vessel damage during trauma, surgery, cardiovascular disease, and the use of implanted devices. Research in this area also informs safer biomaterials and treatments designed to improve vascular repair and long-term vessel health.

2025

Accurate diagnosis and effective prevention are critical in managing Acute Kidney Injury (AKI), which is linked to high mortality rates ranging from 10% to 80%. Timely recognition of at-risk patients and careful monitoring can significantly reduce the likelihood of kidney damage.Diagnostic Assessments:The diagnostic process starts with a comprehensive medical history to identify prerenal, intrarenal, and postrenal causes.Prerenal causes, such as dehydration, hypotension, or blood loss, should...

This protocol uses a balloon catheter to cause an intraluminal injury on the rat carotid artery and henceforth elicit neointimal hyperplasia. This is a well-established model for studying the mechanisms of vascular remodeling in response to injury. It is also widely used to determine the validity of potential therapeutic approaches.
