Bioinformatics Pipeline

A bioinformatics pipeline is an ordered series of computational steps that converts biological data into interpretable results, enabling reproducible analysis of complex datasets. In cancer research, pipelines typically perform quality control on sequencing reads, align or assemble them against a reference genome, identify genetic variants or expression patterns, and annotate findings using biological databases. Researchers use these workflows to characterize tumor genomes, compare tumor and normal samples, identify candidate biomarkers, and investigate molecular mechanisms underlying disease. Standardized pipelines improve reproducibility and efficiency, helping connect high-throughput data with cancer classification, therapeutic research, and emerging precision medicine strategies.
