Psoriasis Research

Psoriasis research is the scientific study of psoriasis, a chronic immune-mediated inflammatory disease that causes recurring skin lesions and can affect systemic health. It examines how genetic susceptibility, environmental triggers, and dysregulated communication between immune cells and keratinocytes drive persistent inflammation, with pathways such as the IL-23/IL-17 axis contributing to abnormal tissue responses. In immunology and infection research, these studies clarify how barrier disruption and inflammatory signaling shape host defense and susceptibility to secondary complications. Findings support improved biomarkers, targeted therapies, and strategies for understanding immune-mediated disease while reducing treatment-related infection risks.

Psoriasis is a chronic, immune-mediated inflammatory skin disease. The Goeckerman regimen, formulated for the treatment of psoriasis, consists of exposure to ultraviolet B (UVB) light and application of crude coal tar (CCT). The following protocol is for the administration of Goeckerman therapy for the treatment of moderate-to-severe psoriasis.

This paper details the creation of a Psoriasis Thickness Reference Card, enabling psoriasis patients to self-assess their psoriasis plaque thickness without the need for physician assistance. Additionally, the precision of self-assessment for psoriasis redness and scaliness by employing reference images depicting various skin tones is assessed.

The vomeronasal organ (VNO) detects intraspecies chemical signals that convey social and reproductive information. We have performed Ca2+ imaging experiments using transgenic mice expressing G-CaMP2 in VNO tissue. This approach allows us to analyze the complicated response patterns of the vomeronasal neurons to large numbers of pheromone stimuli.
