Polygon Area

Polygon area is the measure of the two-dimensional region enclosed by a polygon, expressed in square units. It can be determined by decomposing the shape into simpler figures such as triangles and rectangles, applying formulas for their areas, or using the shoelace formula when the vertices are known in Cartesian coordinates. For regular polygons, area can also be calculated from the perimeter and apothem, which is the perpendicular distance from the center to a side. Understanding polygon area supports geometric reasoning and provides practical tools for surveying, computer graphics, architecture, engineering, and spatial analysis.

Working memory predicts a significant amount of variance for a variety of cognitive tasks, including speaking, reading, and writing. However, few tools are available to assess working memory in children. We present an innovative, computer-based battery that comprehensively assesses different components of working memory in school-age children.
