Flexible Electrodes

Flexible electrodes are electrically conductive interfaces designed to bend, stretch, or conform to curved biological surfaces, making them important for continuous medical monitoring and therapy. They typically combine conductive metals, polymers, or composite inks with an elastic substrate; mechanical deformation preserves contact while the electrode converts ionic activity in tissue into measurable electrical signals or delivers stimulation back to the body. In medicine, these devices support wearable electrocardiography, electromyography, neural recording, biosensing, and electrical stimulation. Their conformal contact can reduce motion artifacts and improve comfort, enabling long-term, real-time assessment and more targeted therapeutic interfaces.

On comparing the reactivity of silver and lead, it is observed that the two ionic species, Ag+ (aq) and Pb2+ (aq), show a difference in their redox reactivity towards copper: the silver ion undergoes spontaneous reduction, while the lead ion does not. This relative redox activity can be easily quantified in electrochemical cells by a property called cell potential. This property is commonly known as cell voltage in electrochemistry, and it is a measure of the energy which accompanies the charge...
