Implant Dentistry

Implant dentistry is the branch of dentistry that replaces missing teeth with biocompatible fixtures anchored in the jaw, helping restore chewing function, speech, and oral structure. Treatment typically involves surgically placing a titanium or other biocompatible implant into the bone, allowing osseointegration, in which new bone forms a stable connection with the implant, followed by attachment of an abutment and crown, bridge, or denture. In medicine and oral healthcare, these restorations support single-tooth replacement, multiple-tooth rehabilitation, and full-arch treatment while helping preserve jawbone after tooth loss. Careful imaging, treatment planning, surgical technique, and maintenance influence long-term outcomes.

2012

Dual-chamber implantable cardioverter-defibrillators (ICDs) may improve detection of atrial fibrillation as well as differentiation of tachycardias. However, this advantage is undermined by complications associated with the second electrode, which is required in conventional dual chamber devices. Therefore, BIOTRONIK has developed a new electrode called the LinoxSMART S DX that, when used in conjunction with the Lumax DX ICD, offers dual-chamber detection without the risks associated with the...
