Mea Chip Recording

MEA chip recording is a method that uses a multielectrode array chip to monitor electrical activity from many cells or tissue sites simultaneously, making it valuable for studying physiological and disease-related signaling. Microelectrodes positioned beneath or around cultured cells detect extracellular voltage changes as action potentials and other bioelectric events occur, while software records and analyzes the timing, frequency, and coordination of signals. In medicine, this approach supports research on neuronal communication, cardiac electrophysiology, drug effects, and disease models, including assessments of toxicity and treatment responses. Its noninvasive, parallel measurements can reveal functional changes that are difficult to capture with single-cell techniques.

Multielectrode array (MEA) recordings provide a method for studying the electrical activity of large populations of neurons. Here, we present the details of a MEA preparation to record from the mouse vomeronasal epithelium while simultaneously stimulating the tissue.

Chip-Based Digital PCR to Detect Rare Transcript Variants Using a Nanofluidic Chip

2025

This video demonstrates chip-based digital PCR — a variation of the digital PCR technique that is useful in detecting rare transcript variants. The PCR reaction is partitioned into the chambers of a nanofluidic chip, each of which acts as an independent reaction. The detection of fluorescence signals from the chambers with amplified targets confirms the presence of rare transcript variants in the sample.
