Porcine Bm-mscs

Porcine Bm-MSCs are mesenchymal stem cells isolated from pig bone marrow, where they provide an accessible model for studying cell behavior relevant to regenerative medicine. These multipotent stromal cells can adhere to culture surfaces, expand under laboratory conditions, and differentiate into lineages such as bone, cartilage, and fat in response to appropriate chemical and biological cues. Their physiological similarities to human cells make porcine Bm-MSCs useful for investigating tissue repair, transplantation strategies, biomaterials, and cell-based therapies before clinical studies. Research on these cells also supports standardized culture methods and evaluation of therapeutic safety, efficacy, and regenerative potential.

2010

Rat MSCs were isolated from femurs and tibias and then enriched by magnetic cell sorting. Sorted cells were confirmed for the expression of surface markers by flow cytometry. These cells were also cultured at clonal density to form single colonies and then these colonies were separated by cloning cylinders.

The immunomodulatory properties of human mesenchymal stem cells (MSC) appear increasingly relevant for clinical application. Using a co-culture system of MSCs and peripheral blood leukocytes pre-stained with the fluorescent dye carboxyfluorescein succinimidyl ester (CFSE), we describe the in vitro assessment of MSC immunomodulation on effector leukocyte proliferation and specific subpopulations.

Porcine Heart Excision: A Protocol to Extract Porcine Heart for Cardiac Transplant

In this video, we describe a step-by-step protocol to extract the heart from a porcine model for cardiac transplantation.

Purifying Capillaries From a Porcine Brain

This video demonstrates the isolation of capillaries from fresh porcine brains. The process involves removing the meninges, isolating the grey matter from the brain tissue, homogenizing and filtering the grey matter to isolate the capillaries, and finally using enzymatic digestion to purify the capillaries further.
