Vascular Management

Vascular management is the coordinated assessment, prevention, and treatment of disorders affecting blood vessels, which is essential for maintaining tissue perfusion and reducing risks such as ischemia, thrombosis, aneurysm, and stroke. Clinicians evaluate symptoms, circulation, and vascular anatomy using examination, blood-flow measurements, and imaging, then tailor care through risk-factor control, medication, surveillance, or procedures that restore or redirect flow. In medicine, vascular management supports care for peripheral artery disease, venous disease, carotid disease, and aortic conditions. Effective management can prevent disease progression, preserve organ function, reduce complications, and guide timely surgical or endovascular intervention.

Source: Zimmermann, S., et.al. Stromal Vascular Fraction-enriched Fat Grafting for the Treatment of Symptomatic End-neuromata. J. Vis. Exp. (2017)This video demonstrates the surgical procedure for neurolysis and stromal vascular fraction (SVF)-enriched fat grafting in the management of symptomatic neuroma. Neurolysis removes adhesion tissue to restore nerve gliding, while SVF-enriched fat grafting is applied around the nerve to create a protective barrier, support nerve healing, and enhance...

All animal procedures described here must be conducted in accordance with institutional animal ethics guidelines and approved by IACUC. All procedures must follow the principles of the 3Rs—Replacement, Reduction, and Refinement—and must be performed by trained personnel. Monitoring Animals for Signs of Pain and Distress Recognizing early signs of pain is essential for ethical animal research. Animals are routinely monitored using behavioral, physical, and physiological parameters that reflect...

To date, thick tissue defects are typically reconstructed by applying autologous tissue flaps or engineered tissues. In this protocol, we present a new method for engineering vascularized tissue flap bearing an autologous pedicle, to serve as a substitute to autologous flaps.

Tools used for visualizing vascular regeneration require methods for contrasting the vascular trees. This film demonstrated a delicate injection technique used to achieve optimal contrasting of the vascular trees and illustrate the potential benefits resulting from a detailed analysis of the resulting specimen using µCT and histological serial sections.
