Brain Tissue Collection

Brain tissue collection is the systematic removal and preservation of brain samples for examining neural structure, molecular composition, and cellular function. In neuroscience, researchers typically identify anatomical regions, dissect tissue under controlled conditions, and preserve samples by fixation or rapid freezing to maintain morphology, nucleic acids, proteins, or other analytes; the choice depends on the intended assay. Careful handling, labeling, and storage help limit degradation and contamination, improving data quality and reproducibility. Collected tissue supports histology, immunohistochemistry, transcriptomic, and biochemical analyses, linking brain organization to development, disease, behavior, and responses to experimental treatments.
