Neutral Stimulus

A neutral stimulus is an event or object that initially produces no specific, learned response, making it a key concept in psychology and classical conditioning. During conditioning, the stimulus is repeatedly paired with an unconditioned stimulus that naturally elicits a response; through this association, the formerly neutral stimulus can become a conditioned stimulus that triggers a conditioned response on its own. Studying this transition helps researchers explain how associations form, how environmental cues influence behavior, and how learned responses may contribute to habits, emotional reactions, and behavioral interventions.

Inducing Axonal Varicosities with a Micromechanical Stimulus on Neurons

2025

This video demonstrates the induction of axonal varicosities by applying micromechanical stimulus on neurons. The system comprises a micropipette attached to a syringe containing buffer via tubing. Using a micromanipulator, the micropipette is positioned above the neurons. Fluid pressure is then applied to induce varicosities in axons.

2020

An acid-base reaction is one in which a hydrogen ion, H+, is transferred from one chemical species to another. Such reactions are of central importance to numerous natural and technological processes, ranging from the chemical transformations within cells or lakes and oceans to the industrial-scale production of fertilizers, pharmaceuticals, and other substances essential to the society. There are several ways of defining an acid. In the context of aqueous solutions, an acid is a substance...

2016

This study describes an imaging-based micro-neutralization assay to analyze the antigenic relationships between viruses. The protocol employs a flatbed scanner and has four steps, including titration, titration quantitation, neutralization, and neutralization quantitation. The assay works well with current circulating influenza A(H1N1)pdm09, A(H3N2), and B viruses.
