Robotic Manipulator

A robotic manipulator is a programmable mechanical system that moves objects or tools through a controlled workspace, making it important for automation in manufacturing, research, and service applications. It uses connected rigid links, joints, actuators, sensors, and an end effector to generate motion, while kinematic models calculate the relationship between joint positions and the tool’s location and orientation. Controllers coordinate these components to follow planned trajectories and apply forces with precision. In engineering, robotic manipulators support assembly, welding, material handling, inspection, and laboratory experimentation, improving repeatability, safety, and productivity while advancing work in collaborative robotics and autonomous systems.

This protocol describes a rod-based approach, combining 3D-printing and soft lithography techniques for fabricating the soft gripper devices. This approach eliminates the need for an external air source by incorporating a chamber component and reduces the chance of occlusion during the sealing process, particularly for miniaturized pneumatic channels.

2014

Pneumonia is one of the top ten leading causes of death in the U.S. Osteopathic manipulative techniques (OMT) may be utilized as an adjunctive therapy in the treatment of pneumonia to enhance biomechanical and immune function; and ultimately, to reduce hospital stay, duration of antibiotics, incidence of respiratory failure, and mortality. In this video-article, we will review randomized controlled studies on the use of OMT in pneumonia patients, as well as demonstrate specific hands-on...

Insect-controlled Robot: A Mobile Robot Platform to Evaluate the Odor-tracking Capability of an Insect
