Oie Accepted Assay

An OIE-accepted assay is a diagnostic test recognized by the World Organisation for Animal Health as suitable for detecting infection or immune responses in animals, supporting reliable disease decisions. It uses a defined analytical principle, such as antigen-antibody binding or nucleic-acid amplification, with standardized conditions and validated controls to distinguish true signals from background. In immunology and infection research, these assays enable case confirmation, surveillance, outbreak investigation, and evaluation of control measures. Their common acceptance criteria improve comparability among laboratories and strengthen evidence-based veterinary and public-health decisions.

Hypothesis: Accept or Fail to Reject?

2023

The outcome of any hypothesis testing leads to rejecting or not rejecting the null hypothesis. This decision is taken based on the analysis of the data, an appropriate test statistic, an appropriate confidence level, the critical values, and P-values. However, when the evidence suggests that the null hypothesis cannot be rejected, is it right to say, 'Accept' the null hypothesis? There are two ways to indicate that the null hypothesis is not rejected. 'Accept' the null hypothesis and 'fail to...

Introduction to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)

2025

Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) are standardized guidelines that govern financial accounting and reporting in the United States. These principles ensure that companies prepare financial statements clearly and consistently. GAAP originated from both private sector efforts and government regulation, especially after the 1930s economic crisis. The Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) now serves as the primary authority for its development.GAAP is built on key characteristics...

The accuracy and sensitivity of protein determination by the rapid and convenient Bradford assay is compromised by intrinsic nonlinearity. We show a simple linearization procedure that greatly increases the accuracy, improves the sensitivity of the assay about 10-fold, and significantly reduces interference by detergents.

The TUNEL Assay

2023

One of the hallmarks of apoptosis is the nuclear DNA fragmentation by nucleases. These enzymes are activated by caspases, the family of proteins that execute the cell death program. TUNEL assay is a method that takes advantage of this feature to detect apoptotic cells. In this assay, an enzyme called terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase catalyzes the addition of dUTP nucleotides to the free 3’ ends of fragmented DNA. By using dUTPs that are labeled with chemical tags that can produce...
