Insulin Deficiency

Insulin deficiency is a biological state in which the body produces too little insulin, a pancreatic hormone that helps cells take up glucose and maintain blood sugar balance. It develops when pancreatic beta cells fail to release sufficient insulin, when their number or function declines, or when insulin production cannot meet the body’s needs; glucose then remains in the bloodstream rather than entering insulin-responsive tissues efficiently. In biology and medicine, understanding this process is central to studying diabetes, glucose metabolism, and interactions between endocrine organs and target cells. Measuring insulin and glucose levels, examining beta-cell function, and replacing insulin when necessary support research, diagnosis, and management of metabolic disease.

When compared to the previous paper protocol, implementation of a computerized glucose management system results in a substantial increase in blood glucose concentration measurements within the target range. Using a computerized glucose management system to monitor blood glucose levels, decreases in severe hypoglycemia (<40 mg/dL), clinical hypoglycemia (<70 mg/dL), and hyperglycemia (>180 mg/dL) also can be observed.

Conserved insulin signaling pathways found in the fruit fly Drosophila melanogaster make this organism a potential tool for modeling metabolic disorders including type II diabetes. To this end, it is critical to establish physiological assays to effectively measure systemic insulin action in peripheral glucose disposal in the adult fly.

Exogenous Mitochondrial Transfer in Differentiating Brown Adipocytes and AGPAT2-Deficient Preadipocytes

2026

Exogenous mitochondria of human and murine origin can be internalized by differentiating preadipocytes and tracked throughout adipogenic differentiation using imaging and genetic tools. While these mitochondria physically interact with the endogenous mitochondrial network, they do not increase the expression of markers associated with mature brown adipocytes.

Capital Deficiency in Liquidation: I

2026

During the liquidation of a partnership, a capital deficiency occurs when a partner’s capital account becomes negative after accounting for allocated losses and the payment of liabilities. Resolving such deficiencies is a critical step before the remaining assets can be distributed. However, complications arise when a partner is unable or unwilling to contribute additional funds to eliminate their deficiency. In cases where a partner cannot satisfy their capital deficiency, the loss must be...
