Vascular Graft

A vascular graft is a biological or synthetic conduit used to replace, repair, or bypass a damaged blood vessel, restoring the pathway needed for blood circulation. Its lumen carries blood while the graft’s material and surface interact with surrounding tissue, supporting attachment of vascular cells and, ideally, formation of an endothelial lining that limits clot formation and maintains vessel function. In biology and medicine, vascular grafts provide models for studying blood vessel structure, healing, and biomaterial compatibility, while clinically they support reconstruction of vessels affected by injury or disease and inform efforts to engineer durable, patient-specific replacements.

This study presents a porcine model for evaluating small-diameter grafts in femoral arteries. The model mimics human vascular dynamics and comprehensively assesses graft patency, hemodynamics, and vascular remodeling. It offers a valuable platform for testing vascular grafts and monitoring them with Doppler ultrasound and angiography.

Stromal Vascular Fraction-Enriched Fat Grafting for the Management of Symptomatic Neuromas

Source: Zimmermann, S., et.al. Stromal Vascular Fraction-enriched Fat Grafting for the Treatment of Symptomatic End-neuromata. J. Vis. Exp. (2017)This video demonstrates the surgical procedure for neurolysis and stromal vascular fraction (SVF)-enriched fat grafting in the management of symptomatic neuroma. Neurolysis removes adhesion tissue to restore nerve gliding, while SVF-enriched fat grafting is applied around the nerve to create a protective barrier, support nerve healing, and enhance...

The purpose of the study is to illustrate the technical procedure of stromal vascular fraction (SVF)-enriched fat grafting as a novel treatment of symptomatic end-neuromata. This technique provides advantages of both the mechanical barrier and the biological action at the cellular level by the processed and concentrated SVF.
