3d Liver Model

A 3D liver model is a laboratory system that recreates key structural and functional features of liver tissue in three dimensions, providing a more physiologically relevant platform than conventional two-dimensional cultures. It uses liver cells, cancer cells, or organoids arranged within extracellular matrix scaffolds or other supportive materials, allowing cell-cell interactions, tissue organization, and gradients of nutrients and oxygen to develop. In cancer research, these models help investigators study tumor growth, invasion, liver metastasis, drug response, and treatment resistance under conditions that better resemble the tumor microenvironment. They also support testing of targeted therapies and may improve the predictive value of preclinical studies.

Physical models of biomolecules can facilitate an understanding of their structure-function for the researcher, aid in communication between researchers, and serve as an educational tool in pedagogical endeavors. Here, we provide detailed guidance for the 3D printing of accurate models of biomolecules using fused filament fabrication desktop 3D printers.

Advanced Animal Model of Colorectal Metastasis in Liver: Imaging Techniques and Properties of Metastatic Clones

The ability of metastatic clones to colonize distant sites depends on their proliferation capacity and/or their ability to survive in the host microenvironment without significant proliferation. Here, we present an animal model that allows quantitative visualization of both types of liver colonization by metastatic clones.

Mouse model of metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) with metabolic dysfunction, hepatic gene expression changes, and liver histopathological alterations that resemble human MASLD, including fibrosis that progresses to advanced fibrosis stage 3. This model can be used in studies of MASLD pathophysiology and in pre-clinical studies of new therapies.
