Blastula Surgical Fusion

Blastula surgical fusion is an embryological microsurgery technique that joins two blastula-stage embryos or blastomere-containing tissues to investigate how early cells interact during development. Researchers bring the blastulae into direct contact, often after removing or opening surrounding protective layers, so their cells can adhere, intermingle, and continue development as a combined embryo. The resulting chimeric structures provide a controlled system for examining cell potency, tissue organization, inductive signaling, and embryonic axis formation. In developmental biology, this approach helps distinguish cell-autonomous behaviors from signals exchanged between neighboring embryonic tissues and clarifies how coordinated patterns arise during early development.

Nuclear Fusion

The process of converting very light nuclei into heavier nuclei is also accompanied by the conversion of mass into large amounts of energy, a process called fusion. The principal source of energy in the sun is a net fusion reaction in which four hydrogen nuclei fuse and ultimately produce one helium nucleus and two positrons. A helium nucleus has a mass that is 0.7% less than that of four hydrogen nuclei; this lost mass is converted into energy during the fusion. This reaction produces about...

Surgical Approach and Complications of Stand-alone Lateral Trans-Psoas Interbody Fusion

2025

Interbody fusion of the lumbar spine can be achieved surgically using different techniques. Minimally invasive techniques, including lateral interbody fusion, have been developed within recent decades to reduce rates of complications and allow for quicker patient recovery. We provide insight into stand-alone lateral trans-psoas interbody fusion, highlighting potential complications and pitfalls.

2026

Here, we present a protocol to perform full-endoscopic trans-Kambin triangle lumbar interbody fusion (KLIF). The protocol utilizes a posterolateral approach via Kambin’s triangle for safe expandable cage insertion and neural decompression while preserving dorsal facet structure and minimizing soft tissue trauma.
