Field Portable Analysis

Field portable analysis is the measurement of chemical, physical, or biological properties outside a conventional laboratory, enabling timely assessment of environmental samples at their source. Portable instruments combine on-site sample preparation with detection methods such as optical spectroscopy, electrochemical sensing, or compact chromatography, while calibration and quality-control procedures support reliable results. In environmental research and monitoring, these methods can evaluate contaminants in water, soil, and air, identify pollution hotspots, and guide remediation or emergency response. By reducing sample transport and processing delays, field portable analysis supports faster decisions and expands measurement capabilities in remote or resource-limited settings.

2012

A reliable home-based way to assess the language comprehension of very young typically developing children, as well as those with autism, is described. The method analyzes children's eye gaze while viewing side-by-side images but hearing an audio that matches only one image. Stimuli are designed with young participants in mind.
