Coronary Flow Reserve

Coronary flow reserve (CFR) is the capacity of the coronary circulation to increase blood flow above its resting level when the heart demands more oxygen, making it an important indicator of coronary vascular health. It is typically calculated as the ratio of hyperemic coronary blood flow or velocity to baseline flow after a vasodilator, such as adenosine, reduces microvascular resistance; a reduced ratio may reflect obstructive epicardial disease, diffuse atherosclerosis, or coronary microvascular dysfunction. In medicine, CFR supports the functional assessment of suspected ischemia, complements anatomical imaging, and can help estimate prognosis and guide clinical management when symptoms or test results are inconclusive.

Coronary flow reserve (CFR) is useful for assessment of myocardial oxygen demand and evaluation of cardiovascular risk. This study establishes a step-by-step transthoracic Doppler echocardiographic (TTDE) method for longitudinal monitoring of the changes in CFR, as measured from coronary artery in mice, under the experimental pressure overload of aortic banding.

Coronary flow reserve (CFR), is defined as the ratio of maximal coronary blood flow to the resting coronary blood flow. We present a protocol for evaluating CFR in rats via ultrasound, which offers the opportunity to predict cardiovascular risk factors in the absence of obstructive coronary disease.

The present protocol describes a modified parasternal long-axis view for swift and precise localization of the left anterior descending artery. This approach is designed to be simpler and more user-friendly while facilitating the examination of dynamic changes in coronary flow reserve following myocardial ischemia-reperfusion in mice.

Excess reserves, while often viewed as idle funds from a lending perspective, play a vital role in ensuring financial stability and managing risk—particularly during periods of economic uncertainty or regulatory change.Strategic Value Beyond LiquidityExcess reserves are not merely a liquidity buffer; they represent a deliberate strategic decision by banks. When economic conditions are stable, lending typically yields higher returns. However, during periods of financial volatility or increased...

The Federal Reserve plays a key role in clearing interbank payments. One important function of the Fed is clearing interbank payments. When banks transfer funds among themselves, the Fed acts as an intermediary to ensure that these transactions are settled smoothly. Commercial banks maintain accounts at the Federal Reserve, known as master accounts. These accounts hold the reserves that banks use to make payments to one another. When one bank needs to transfer money to another, it sends an...
