Luq

LUQ, or the left upper quadrant, is an anatomical region of the abdomen used to describe the location of organs, symptoms, and physical findings in clinical medicine. It contains structures including the spleen, stomach, pancreas, left kidney, and portions of the small and large intestines; localizing pain to this region helps narrow possible causes. Clinicians assess LUQ complaints through medical history, abdominal palpation, laboratory testing, and imaging, interpreting tenderness, guarding, fever, or trauma in context. Understanding the LUQ supports differential diagnosis and guides timely evaluation of conditions such as splenic injury, gastrointestinal disease, and pancreatic disorders.
