Wound Healing Model

A wound healing model is an experimental system used to study how tissue responds to injury and restores structural integrity, making it valuable for understanding repair and disease. These models reproduce key stages of healing, including hemostasis, inflammation, proliferation, re-epithelialization, extracellular matrix deposition, and remodeling, through in vitro, ex vivo, or in vivo approaches. Researchers use them to examine cell migration, vascular responses, immune signaling, and tissue regeneration under controlled conditions. Wound healing models support the evaluation of therapies, biomaterials, and drug candidates while helping clarify why chronic wounds fail to progress through normal repair.
