Nsaid Usage

NSAID usage refers to the therapeutic use of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs to reduce pain, inflammation, and fever without using corticosteroids. These medicines inhibit cyclooxygenase enzymes, COX-1 and COX-2, which decreases prostaglandin production and can also affect platelet function and gastrointestinal protection. In pharmacology, NSAID usage is important for managing conditions such as musculoskeletal pain, arthritis, menstrual cramps, and acute injury. Appropriate drug selection, dose, duration, and patient monitoring help balance symptom relief against adverse effects, including gastrointestinal irritation, bleeding, kidney injury, and cardiovascular complications.

The prediction of the coreceptor usage of HIV-1 is required for the administration of a new class of antiretroviral drugs, i.e. coreceptor antagonists. It can be performed by sequence analysis of the env gene and subsequent interpretation through an internet based interpretation system (geno2pheno[coreceptor]).
