Conditioned Response

A conditioned response is a learned reaction to a stimulus that initially produces little or no relevant response, making it a central concept in psychology and the study of learning. In classical conditioning, repeated pairing of a neutral stimulus with an unconditioned stimulus causes the neutral stimulus to become a conditioned stimulus that elicits a similar response; this learned reaction is the conditioned response. Researchers use this framework to study how associations form, persist, and change through processes such as acquisition, extinction, and generalization. Applications include understanding emotional learning, habits, phobias, behavioral therapy, and adaptive responses to environmental cues.

The Response of Equilibria to the Conditions

Named after the French chemist Henry Louis Le Chatelier, Le Chatelier's principle states that when a system at equilibrium is subjected to any change (like pressure, temperature, or concentration), the composition of the system adjusts in a way that counteracts the effect of this change, thereby attempting to restore the equilibrium.According to Le Chatelier's principle, for exothermic reactions, when the system's temperature is increased, the system will try to reduce the temperature. We demonstrate how to implement a behavioral pharmacology method in an appetitive olfactory conditioning paradigm in honeybees (Apis mellifera) by systemic application of drugs. This method allows investigation of the mechanisms underlying learning and memory formation in a simple and reliable way.

Photomotor Response Assay: A Method to Measure the Behavioral Response of Larval Zebrafish to a Sudden Change in Lighting Condition

This video describes the photomotor response assay of zebrafish and fathead minnow larvae using an automated tracking software. The protocol measures the behavioral response of the larval fish following a sudden change in lighting condition.

Fear Conditioning

Fear Conditioning is a type of learning in which an association is established between a negative unpleasant event and a harmless stimulus. This leads to a fear of the harmless stimulus. This process is largely mediated by the amygdala, which is a brain region involved in emotions and stress reactions. Fear conditioning can be utilized in several ways to understand different aspects of learning and memory. This video presents an overview of the principles behind fear conditioning, discusses the...
