Bacteria-fungus Interaction

Bacteria-fungus interaction describes the ecological and molecular relationships between bacterial and fungal organisms, which can shape microbial communities, host health, and nutrient cycling. These interactions arise through competition for space and resources, chemical signaling, antimicrobial compounds, biofilm formation, or mutualistic nutrient exchange, with environmental conditions influencing whether relationships become cooperative, antagonistic, or neutral. In biology, studying these partnerships helps explain soil fertility, plant disease, decomposition, and the assembly of microbiomes. Their mechanisms also inform the development of antibiotics, biocontrol agents, sustainable agriculture strategies, and approaches for managing beneficial or harmful microbial communities.
